Following many years experience as a consultant orthopaedic surgeon on the professorial unit at Charing Cross Hospital, I have developed an interest in treating back pain and sciatica with minimally invasive procedures including caudal epidurals, facet joint injections, nerve root blocks and vertebroplasty.
These techniques have the advantage of being minimally invasive and can be done on a day care basis in theatre under an appropriate anaesthetic with much reduced morbidity compared to surgical procedures.
